STAKEHOLDER WORKSHOP TO SUPPORT THE FITNESS CHECK OF THE EU AMBIENT AIR QUALITY DIRECTIVES
The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Environment is pleased to announce the organisation of a workshop in the context of the Fitness Check of the Ambient Air Quality Directives on Monday 18 June 2018 in Brussels, at the European Commission’s Albert Borschette Conference Centre, 36 Rue Froissart.
The Fitness Check assesses the performance of the two complementary EU Ambient Air Quality (AAQ) Directives (Directives 2008/50/EC and 2004/107/EC). The purpose of the workshop is to collect stakeholders’ views with regard to the main provisions of the Directives, within the framework of the five key evaluation criteria and the associated evaluation questions.
These Directives set air quality standards and requirements to ensure that Member States monitor and/or assess air quality on their territory, in a harmonised and comparable manner. It also considers the corresponding Implementing Decision 2011/850/EC and Commission Directive EU/2015/1480. The European Commission is assisted in this process by a consortium of three organisations: Cowi, Milieu and Eunomia. More information about the consultation process can be found here.
You can signal your interest in attending the workshop using this form before 30 May 2018. We kindly ask you to distribute this announcement to relevant stakeholders in your network. Please note that an expression of interest does not mean you are registered to attend the workshop. You will receive an email confirming registration shortly after registration closes. In order to ensure a balanced representation of different stakeholders, the Commission reserves the right to make a selection among all who have expressed interest in attending. Please take note of the attached privacy statement.
Please note that the European Commission is unable to assist participants in paying travel or accommodation expenses. Interpretation will be available in French, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish. Please also note that the event will be web-streamed. The workshop agenda will be made available shortly on the European Commission's Events Webpage.
2018 ISES-ISEE Joint Annual Conference
The Joint ISES-ISEE 2018 Meeting theme is “Addressing Complex Local and Global Issues in Environmental Exposure and Health.” As the capital city of Canada, Ottawa is home to diverse and active community of scientists and policy makers engaged in local and global environmental exposure and health research. The ISES-ISEE 2018 Meeting will be inclusive to delegates from around the world, and will leverage local and international expertise to address complex local and global topics relevant to exposure science and environmental epidemiology.
EFSA conference 2018 is constructed around the motto “contextualising risk assessment”. This means reflecting on the future of risk assessment in food safety while acknowledging the social and political context within which it operates. Researchers, risk assessors, social scientists, risk managers and stakeholders from all over the world will gather to discuss issues around the complex interplay between science, food and society.
